Kindergarten 2014-15

Full day Kindergarten Sliding Scale
We would like to announce that the School Committee has adopted the 2014-2015 DESE sliding scale for Full Day Kindergarten for the upcoming  school year.   For those families who may need assistance with the tuition for Full Day Kindergarten, we encourage you to fill out the form (see link) or contact Marie Doyle, Superintendent (mdoyle@longmeadow.k12.ma.us)  or Tom Mazza, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations (tmazza@longmeadow.k12.ma.us) with any questions that you have.  A recommendation will be made and voted on at the March 10, 2014 School Committee meeting regarding discounts for families with multiples.
Longmeadow Public Schools will be implementing an optional, recommended full day kindergarten program where the rigorous curriculum will be aligned with the Common Core Standards. A half day program will be also be offered as mandated by law.

Kindergarten Registration
We are pleased to announce that there will be an optional full-day kindergarten program at all three elementary schools this fall. Each school will house at least 2 full-day kindergarten classrooms. The School Committee has established a fee of $3,000 for the year. Payments will be split up into 5 equal installments. The first installment will be the deposit of $600 which is due upon registration. The other four $600 installments will be due: Aug. 1st, Oct. 1st, Dec. 1st and Feb. 1st. We will still offer half-day kindergarten classes for those families who do not wish to place their child in the full day program.

There is no fee with the half-day program. Half day Kindergarten will be offered at Wolf Swamp and Center schools. Center will have an AM section from 8:45am - 11:30am and Wolf Swamp will have a PM section from 12:00pm – 2:45pm. Placement in a HDK program if you are in Blueberry Hill district will be determined by the district.

Our registration packets and information will be sent out on Friday, January 31, 2014 with a due date of Friday, February 28, 2014. Registration packets and deposits for the full day program must be received no later than March 1, 2014 to guarantee attendance at the child’s home school. Registrations and deposits received after March 1st will be accepted into the full day kindergarten program; however, students may be placed in a school which is NOT their home school. Registration materials are accepted during normal business hours. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions about Kindergarten registration you may contact the District Office at 413-565-4200 or check our website at www.longmeadow.k12.ma.us .
